How to create letterpress text effect in Gravit Designer

Hi. In today’s tutorial, I am going to show you how to create letterpress text effect in Gravit Designer.

Assume you have your own copy of Gravit Designer up and running, so let’s create a new 1920X1080 new document.

Create a background

Grab a rectangle tool (R) and cover the entire artboard. Set the fill color to #488cb7. Lock the background on a layer’s panel.

Create a text

Grab a type tool and create a text with:

  • Font family: Open Sans
  • Font size: 350px
  • Font weight: Bold

Create a new fill for the text with the color of #4480a8.

Add an inner glow effect

With the text selected navigate to the Effects/More/Other/Inner glow. in the opened dialog box set:

  • Radius: 8.5
  • Intensity: 1.1
  • Color to #1a3140

Long shadow effects

It’s time to add a Long Shadow effect. They both have almost identical parameters, the only differences are angle and color.

Darker shadow

In order to create darker shadow, navigate to Effect/More/Shadow/Long shadow. In opened dialog box set:

  • Fade: none
  • Length: 2.5px
  • Angle: – 90 deg
  • Opacity: 100%
  • Color to #0a1b26
  • Density: 100%

Lighter shadow

In order to create lighter shadow, navigate to Effect/More/Shadow/Long shadow. In opened dialog box set:

  • Fade: none
  • Length: 2.5px
  • Angle:  90 deg
  • Opacity: 100%
  • Color to #c7e9ff
  • Density: 100%

Add subtle noise effect

Noise effect provides a desired texture. In order to add noise navigate to Effect/More/Adjust/Noise. In the dialog box set amount of noise to 0.04.

Create shared style

Let’s make our letterpress effect reusable by creating shared style. Navigate to Style/New shared style. In opened dialog box uncheck Text option, set a name and click create.

Now you can apply letterpress effect to any shape, text or vector artwork. Just keep your design selected and go to the Style panel and choose Letterpress from drop-down menu.

So easy!
